BBC’s hissy fit over Brexit bias research PROVES it has something to hide

SO now we know. The BBC hates Brexit so much it has four times more pro-EU guests on its flagship politics shows than those who voted Leave. Unsurprisingly, this important piece of research — published yesterday in The Sun — triggered a hissy fit by our publicly funded national broadcaster. One newspaper reporter who asked […]

Does Labeling Bias as "Bullying" Hide the Real Problem?
Yesterday, we were struck by Tony Dokoupil's piece on Alex Merritt, a young man bullied by his teachers. As Dokoupil movingly reported, the taunts were cruel, and the remarks were almost entirely based on the teachers' allegations that Merritt was a homosexual. Of course, the fact the bullying was spearheaded by teachers – then spread to the student-body – makes the situation seem all the more unforgivable. But it reminded us of the work of University of Arizona professor, Stephen T. Russell. Russell went to public and private schools in

LIAM Fox launched another attack on the BBC – claiming it was trying to make Brexit a disaster by broadcasting negative stories. The International Trade Secretary said he was sick of the “self-defeating pessimism” of media outlets like the BBC and the Financial Times. Senior Tory backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg also vented anger at the BBC’s […]

* INSTRUCTIVE update: impacts of research and BrexitSix months ago I wrote about our EU research project, called INSTRUCTIVE, and the likely consequences of Brexit for research [see my post: ‘Instructive report and Brexit‘ on March 29th, 2017].  We seem to be no closer to knowing the repercussions of Brexit on research in the UK and EU – a quarter of EU funding allocated to universities goes to UK universities so the potential impacts will hit…View On WordPress
* Twenty-nine per cent of Remain voters would accept a Brexit scenario in which all EU nationals were forced to leave the UK, new research suggests. Meanwhile, more than a third of Leavers — 34 per cent — said they would back a deal that gave Britain no control over EU immigration and similar levels of migration to now. The innovative study by researchers at Oxford University and the London School of Economics (LSE) found the views of Remainers and Leavers, away from the sometimes vitriolic public debate, were not as far apart as had been thought. This proves to me that Brits don’t know what the Brexit vote actually meant.
* Red States v. Blue States v. State Of LegalizationThere has been a clear state-by-state divide in marijuana legalization efforts that some research indicates has occurred because of a red states v. blue states bias. According to research collected online and analyzed by Consumer Research Around Cannabis, Portland, Oregon and Birmingham, Alabama are two examples of the blue vs. red divide in U.S. politics and how that affects opinions and votes…View On WordPress

Why doesn't $\frac{1}{\sqrt{n}}\geq h_n $ proves that the limit is indeed $1$? I am reading Courant's Differential and Integral Calculus, here: I believe what he done is the following: $$\sqrt{n}=(b_n)^n=(1+ h_n)^n\geq 1+nh_n \\ \frac{ \sqrt{n}}{n}=\frac{(b_n)^n}{n}=\frac{(1+ h_n)^n}{n}\geq \frac{1}{n}+h_n\\ \frac{ \sqrt{n}-1}{n}=\frac{(b_n)^n-1}{n}=\frac{(1+ h_n)^n-1}{n}\geq h_n$$ Now: $$\frac{1}{\sqrt{n}}=\frac{\sqrt{n}}{n}\geq \frac{ \sqrt{n}-1}{n}$$ And we have: $$\frac{1}{\sqrt{n}}\geq\frac{ \sqrt{n}-1}{n}=\frac{(b_n)^n-1}{n}=\frac{(1+ h_n)^n-1}{n}\geq h_n$$ And he concludes it here: $\quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad \quad $ But he adds another step after that, why is the previous conclusion not enough to prove the limit is $1$? After all, $\frac{1}{\sqrt{n}}\to 0$ as $n\to\infty$, as $h_n \leq \frac{1}{\sqrt{n}}$ it should be $h_n\leq 0$, this should be enough, no? I've been thinking about what could go wrong, but until now I had no success. Perhaps $h_n$ could be negative? But for not well known reasons, it doesn't seems likely.
Not sure how a theorem proves the existence of a bounded linear operator? I am not sure how the following theorem proves the existence of a bounded linear operator. Let $X,Y,Z$ be Banach spaces and let $A:X\to Y$ and $B:Z\to Y$ be bounded linear operators. Suppose $A$ is injective. Then the following statements are equivalent: $\text{Im}(B) \subset \text{Im}(A)$. There exists a bounded linear operator $M:Z\to X$ such that $AM = B$. For proving the first implication, assume $\text{Im}(B) \subset \text{Im}(A)$. Then we have $\text{Im}(B) = \text{Im}(AM) \subset \text{Im}(A)$. I'm not sure how this shows that $M$ exists? In particular, by stating $\text{Im}(B) = \text{Im}(AM)$, have we not, in effect, assumed the existence of $M$ while trying to show its existence? So how does the above proof (i) show that a linear operator $M:Z\to X$ exists, and (ii) it is bounded?

How Bias Are Bad For Research? Bias is bad for research because the reason for doing research is to gather data to form an opinion or come to a data based conclusion. Having a strong bias while doing research can cause you to miss important pieces of data . Bias can even make you ignore pieces of data and patterns because it doesn't fit the patterns or outcome that you're already expecting before you started the research.

Why does the Brexit vote align well with biblical prophecy? It doesn't. [edit] I have been asked to expand on this short answer. The Bible is not an answer book for everything that happens to and in human societies or to individual human beings. It is the record of Israel's dealings with God and the witness of God's offer of salvation through Jesus Christ. Nothing that I am aware of in the Bible can be applied to the Brexit. Being pattern-seeking creatures, we naturally look to see if there is a pattern to things but sometimes things just happen.
