Garrowhill
| The area of Glasgow called Garrowhill takes its name from Garrowhill House (circa.1810) which used to stand on the crest of the hill and is now part of the park. The building of the Garrowhill garden suburb commenced in 1934 and was built by Henry Boot & Co. of Sheffield. The land originally comprised of Easter and Wester Barrachnie, most of which was owned by J.M.Scott Maxwell of Baillieston and the northern area by the Findlay's of Springhill. About half of the street names are of English origin and the remainder have local historical significance. |
