| The Union is owned and run by its members. All full time students at Strathclyde are automatically members of the Union, unless they opt out of their membership (for further details on membership, see the Constitution). So, if you’re a full time student at Strathclyde, you, along with 14,000 other students, own the Union.
As a member of the Union you have the power to change anything about it, from what price the drinks are, to what staff it employs, to what services it runs. However, as it’d be pretty difficult to get the 14,000 members together in a room to make decisions about the Union, we have a system of representation. That means that, instead of being involved directly, you elect another student to represent your views. You also have the opportunity to stand for election yourself. |
