Clever colour on lids
Matt powder formulations tend to give a strong look, while iridescent creams or shimmery powders create a sheer, subtle effect. Try this three-layer effect on your lids, applying the lightest tone first and finishing with the darkest. Remember to use shades that complement each other - ivory, light brown and deep chocolate make a good trio, or try lilac, soft plum and deep purple. Using a large eyeshadow brush, blend a wash of pale colour across the entire lid. Start at the lashline and extend just above the crease, blending outwards and upwards. Create depth with a medium tone worn in the crease. With a medium-sized eyeshadow brush, follow the natural contour of the lid. Make sure you extend the shadow a little above the crease so that you can see it when your eyes are open. For eye-opening definition, run a dark shade along the lashline. Using a pencil or your smallest eyeshadow brush to apply the powder, smudge a line into and along the lashes.
