| To ensure we offer our customers good food, in May 1998 we banned the use of GM ingredients in our own label range. We were the first UK retailer to take this stance, although many have now followed our lead. It was a massive technical challenge and many experts said it couldn't be done, but we managed to achieve it. We travelled the world to source ingredients and established new routes to get non-GM ingredients to our suppliers.
Our non-GM policy remains firmly in place today, and our own label products and ingredients are regularly tested to ensure it is maintained. |
